Rapanui Organic Clothing
Two brothers as passionate about the environment as they are about their first love surfing, have just launched a new range of organic clothing.
Their company, Rapanui, offers consumers the opportunity to buy into an ethos, to take the first step in ‘going green’ or to continue their ‘green’ lifestyle in their fashion-wear. These clothes are already in demand by surfing and lifestyle retailers.
Set up by Isle of Wight born brothers and surfing duo Rob and Martin Drake-Knight. As the brothers learnt more about the damaging effects on the environment, they became inspired to take the first step to change.
Rob said; “We have both had first hand experience of environmental damage due to the amount of time we spend surfing; Martin wears scars from a skin infection caused by pollution, and sore throats are a regular occurrence when we’re surfing near rivers polluted with field run off. These are the invisible pollutants; but everyone has seen the pollution on our beaches. We both felt we wanted to do something.”
Both brothers are firm believers that we can all make a difference, and are regularly found cleaning up the Isle of Wight beaches. They also spend time talking to young people about the potential damaging effects of pollution. Then they came up with their clothing brand concept, a way to spread the word.
“We hope to inspire customers to ‘join us’; to become part of our brand; to change their lives in a way which helps them to become integrated with nature as we were in the past.”
Rapanui answers the current debates and concerns about the future of our environment, with a clothing range featuring Organic, Sustainable and Chemically Safe Fabrics, hand finished in England.
