Ryde

One recent achievement is a massive regeneration initiative for Ryde, one of the main gateways to the Island. The Partnership secured £6.25 million to enhance the town, provide new facilities, skills and assist community projects which has subsequently drawn in further funding for projects. The funding was overseen by the Ryde Development Trust, who worked with the people of Ryde to decide how the money should be spent:

Ryde Carnival
The highly successful Ryde Carnival is a colourful example of what can be achieved through this type of programme, providing a creative focus for the community, drawing people together, creating new skills and attracting visitors to the area, bringing new jobs and a vibrancy to the area.

Oakfield recreational ground
A disused piece of ground was taken and turned into a modern, safe area with playground equipment for younger children and added a skate ramp and ball area for older children. The site was made more accessible by linking it to the new Ryde business park development and improving footpaths to the nursery school.
By providing this safe and welcoming area, the project has improved opportunities for people of all ages - reducing crime, reducing social exclusion and supporting healthy lifestyles by encouraging physical activity.
