Sailing
Surrounded by water, it’s no surprise that the Isle of Wight is a sailing mecca. Cowes is home to some of the world’s finest boatbuilders and is a base for the UK’s finest sailors including Dame Ellen MacArthur and Shirley Robertson OBE.
Throughout the sailing season there are a variety of events, regattas and races including the famous JP Morgan Round the Island Race, Skandia Cowes week and Little Britain.
Many Island residents are actively involved in the sailing scene - whether it be as a member of a local sailing club, competitive fleet sailing or simply sailing during their time off.
There are a host of marinas, harbours and anchorages around the Isle of Wight which attract visiting yachts for their tranquil surroundings, warm temperatures and access to great restaurants and cafes.
